CONDITION SURVEY

The scope of condition Survey includes:

  1. Identify areas of distress
  2. Assess the extent of distress due to corrosion or otherwise in concrete elements that do not show any visual signs at this stage i.e. the beams and columns
  3. Evaluate the average strength of concrete in different elements
  4. Assess and select an effective method of rehabilitation & repairs to the structure

A survey of the condition of a reinforced concrete structure is the first step towards its rehabilitation. A rapid, cost-effective and non-destructive condition survey offers key information on the evaluation of corrosion, and aids in the quality assurance of concrete repair and rehabilitation.

Only with thorough testing can one assess the severity of corrosion and design the most optimum repair system that would also guard against future corrosion such as due to loss of Cathodic protection provided by the corroding rods to the ‘incipient anode’ bars which become active once the patch repair systems is executed. Testing can also take help us identify areas of presently lower corrosion activity by use of appropriate Corrosion Inhibitors in such locations as identified during the testing.
